A Utah mother documented her daughter’s battle with pediatric cancer—and the stunning images are going viral.

Kristen Bowden says that when she and her husband Dakota learned that their then-3-year-old daughter, Lula Beth, had cancer, they were stunned.

“We never expected this news to happen to us. It’s always sad, heartbreaking stories of others that you see, until it happens to you,” she told Good Morning America.

Doctors diagnosed Lula Beth with pediatric kidney cancer after finding a Wilms’ tumor in her body. Their toddler underwent surgery to remove the “football-sized tumor” and an entire kidney. Lula Beth then underwent 18 rounds of chemotherapy in 22 weeks.

Through it all, Kristen says Lula Beth remained positive and was “like a champ.”

Kristen told TODAY Parents that she’s sharing Lula Beth’s story to inspire other families who find themselves facing a scary diagnosis.

“I want to share our story to give others hope that even through the toughest battles good things are still around the corner,” Bowden explained, “to never lose hope and always look for the light in things.”

Bowden recently shared another powerful photo to Instagram, showing Lula three months into chemotherapy compared to seven months into remission.

“This is your reminder to never lose hope,” she wrote.
