In an adorably hilarious moment during her tell-all interview with Oprah, Adele shared a story about how her son—like all of our kids do—keeps her humble. How? Well, basically, her son has no idea that Adele is “Adele.”

“Didn’t you take him to a Taylor Swift concert, and he was like…couldn’t believe all those people were there?” Oprah asked about Adele’s 9-year-old son, Angelo.

(To be fair, what little Swiftie wouldn’t be impressed by a Taylor Swift concert?)

Adele laughed and confirmed the story was true, and that her son absolutely loved the T.Swift concert.

“Because he used to come to my stadium shows for my rehearsals and it’d be empty,” she explained. “He’s like, ‘So many people come to her shows,’ ’cause I’d make him leave before they all arrived. It was so cute and so funny.”

Along with the interview with Oprah, a “One Night Only” Adele concert special aired on CBS last night. During the performance, she gave her son an emotional shoutout. She said he’s never actually seen her perform live and in concert before, so it was extra special to have him there.

“It’s the absolute honor of my life to have you here tonight baby,” Adele told her son from the stage.

The concert was filmed at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles last month, and it aired in conjunction with the interview.

Adele recently opened up about the last few years of her life, most notably her divorce and how it affected her son, in an interview with Vogue. She shared more details about being a single mom with Oprah last night, and why she knew she had to get a divorce from her ex-husband, Simon Konecki, despite still loving him very much.

“I was really ignoring myself. For a long time. Which was wild to me when I realized it,” Adele said of the reasons behind the separation.

While she admits she feels an immense amount of guilt and “somewhat selfish” for breaking up her child’s nuclear family, she knew she needed to take time to figure out how to be happy now or she feared her son would resent her later.

“And I knew that as an adult, Angelo would be livid with me for doing that,” she said about staying in an unhappy marriage. “I knew that when he became an adult that he’d be furious at me. And I didn’t want that either. But it was, it was hard work.”

She and Konecki still co-parent daily—he lives directly across the street from her and they still operate as a family unit for Angelo.

“I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness,” she told British Vogue last month. “It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.”

Here’s hoping the star-studded concert (every A-list celebrity in existence was in utterly captivated by Adele for two straight hours) was at least enough to show young Angelo that his mom and Taylor Swift have more in common than he previously thought!
