On Sunday night the longest pregnancy in the history of pop culture ended as Amy Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer welcomed their new baby boy into the world.

On Tuesday evening, Schumer announced the name the couple chose. She posted a photo of Chris holding the baby and captioned it: “Gene Attell Fischer And his dad Chris. ”

What a great name!

Gene is such a throwback name that it has not been in the top 1000 baby names in America since 2000, so we can’t even look up the stats on the Social Security Website. There are not a lot of little Genes running around. According to Names.com only 86 babies were named Gene in the U.S. in 2017. Fun fact: There are more Genes in South Dakota than any other state.

This little baby has a unique yet traditional name, and we love that Schumer (who is not exactly traditional herself) chose this for him. Time will tell if he shows a preference for the Rushmore state.
