A lot of families are celebrating fathers today, but for a certain royal family, June 21 is a double celebration as June 21 is both Father’s Day and Prince William’s birthday.

That’s why his wife, the former Kate Middleton, just released some new portraits she snapped of her husband with their kids and his own father.

Look at how much little Prince Louis has grown!

Prince William celebrates Father’s Day

As Motherly previously reported, Prince William does not take fatherhood lightly. Because he takes his responsibilities so seriously they’ve also come with a lot of anxiety and even fear.

“It’s one of the most amazing moments of life, but it’s also one of the scariest,” William says of becoming a father.

He explained: “Having children is the biggest life-changing moment, it really is…I think when you’ve been through something traumatic in life, and that is like you say, your Dad not being around, my mother dying when I was younger, the emotions come back, in leaps and bounds.”

Prince William was also very anxious about his father in recent months when the elder royal was diagnosed with COVID-19.

“I have to admit at first I was quite concerned,” Prince William told the BBC. “He fits the profile of somebody of the age he’s at, which is you know fairly risky, and so I was a little bit worried.”

He continued: “But my father has had many chest infections, colds, and things like that over the years, and so I thought to myself if anybody is going to be able to beat this it’s going to be him…And actually, he was very lucky, he had mild symptoms. I think the hardest thing he found was having to stop and not being able to go and get a bit of fresh air and go for a walk. He’s a mad walker, loves his walking. So I think he found it quite difficult. especially also with his mental health—being sort of stuck inside and not being able to go for walks.”

Prince Charles has fully recovered and was able to visit Gloucestershire Royal Hospital last week to thank front line health care workers for all they are doing.

Prince William is pleased that his father recovered and can be recognized on Father’s Day, and wants people to encourage dads of all ages to take care of their mental health during the pandemic.
