Going to the movies hasn’t been an option for families since COVID-19 changed our world but Walmart is changing that by opening drive-in movie theaters!

Starting on August 12 at 5 pm, families can reserve a space through thewalmartdrivein.com. The link gives families easy access to tickets, locations and movie times.

Walmart took to Instagram to share a sneak peek of some of the free films they are showing, including fan favorites like Black Panther, Spiderman and Back to the Future.

“There’s never been a better time for a drive-in. #walmartdrivein,” the brand captioned the post.

Fans of Walmart championed the post, with one mom writing, “So clever- grocery shop and get snacks, chairs, pillows, and popcorn right before the movie starts”.

For moms on a budget looking to lift their kid’s spirits during these anxious times, drive-ins offer an easy, affordable and safe way to have fun. With over 160 stores nationwide, Walmart is making the drive-in experience easy on mamas by having concession stands via Walmart pick up at each location for a one-stop-shop to the big screen.

To amplify the movie-going experience, Walmart also is bringing in actor Drew Berrymore to virtually host shows as well as in-person/virtual appearances from Lebron James, Chrissy Metz and Jenifer Garner.

Walmart came up with the idea for a drive-in after partnering with the Tribeca Film festival to curate the lineup of films. With over 320 showings, the movies cover a wide range of topics allowing every kid of yours to have endless options.

The kid-friendly options include (but are not limited to!) Cars, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, The Lego Movie and Madagascar.

Considering the unmeasurable amount of time that it may take for socially distant regulations to change, Walmart is offering its drive-in movie service until October 12.

So, this summer and fall Walmart has got mamas covered in the family fun department. With the pandemic stopping so many things we used to do as a family this new activity can give joy to people and help them form new memories.
