“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time,” the message continued. “Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”

On October 28, the Manchester United player announced he was expecting twins with Rodríguez.
“Delighted to announce we are expecting twins,”  he wrote at the time. “Our hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you.”

Manchester United showed love and support for the player on Twitter, writing: “Your pain is our pain, @Cristiano Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”

The English Premier League mirrored the sentiment with a tweet of its own, which reads: “The thoughts and condolences of everyone at the Premier League are with you and your family, Cristiano.”
Ronaldo and Rodríguez share a 4-year-old daughter named Alana Martina. The athlete is also dad to 4-year-old fraternal twins Eva Maria and Mateo, who were born through surrogacy, and 11-year-old Cristiano Jr., whose mother has never been publicly named.
