With one of the worst flu seasons on record and common colds that seem impossible to escape, this is a hard time of year—no matter who you are. Even Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s family was recently touched by quite the medical scare when 2-year-old Saint West had to be hospitalized for pneumonia.

“My precious baby boy is so strong! After spending three nights in the hospital & seeing my baby get multiple IV’s and hooked up to oxygen machines, our end of year was challenging,” Kardashian shares in a new Instagram post.

For as traumatic as the experience could have been, Kardashian says she was uplifted by an incredible team of medical professionals.

“I just want to thanks every nurse & doctor out there who works so hard around the clock,” she says. “We are so grateful for you all!”

According to the TMZ, Kardashian and West split up overnight duties at the hospital, so someone was always by Saint’s side—and was always around to witness the care from doctors and nurses, even during the holiday week.

As many parents who’ve been in a similar positions can attest, doctors and nurses usually don’t just help with physical recovery; they are also willing to listen, reassure and offer comfort during the most trying times.

Thankfully, Kardashian says Saint is now “all better.” And Kardashian suspects he’ll only have fond memories of the “cool” ambulance ride he got to take to the hospital.

As someone whose whole family has been felled by sickness these past few weeks, I know it takes a toll—whether you’re the ill one or in the caregiver role. But, as Kardashian says, kids are so resilient and the best we can do is try to stay healthy.

For other families whose homes are sick zones right now, it may help to pull out all the stops with immune-boosting breakfasts, lots of sleep and hydration.

But, if that doesn’t help, it’s reassuring to know that we’re in good hands with medical professionals—and the end of flu season isn’t too far away.
