Millie Bobby Brown is officially a mom. The Stranger Things star and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, shared that they’ve welcomed their first child together—a baby girl—through adoption.

“We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” the couple wrote in a statement on social media. “And then there were 3.”

Brown, 21, and Bongiovi, 23, married in a private ceremony last year. The couple first connected on Instagram and began dating in 2021.

Brown has long dreamed of motherhood

In a conversation earlier this year on the Smartless podcast, Brown opened up about her desire to start a family while still young, just as her own mother did. “I’m still really young, but my mom actually had her first child at 21 and my dad was 19,” she explained. “It’s been my thing since before I met Jake. I wanted to be a mom just like my mom was to me, and my grandmother was a huge part of my life.”

She also spoke candidly about her openness to adoption, saying, “I don’t see having your own child as really any different in adopting.”

A family-first vision

Family has always been central for the couple, who both grew up in families of four siblings. “Jake knows how important it is to me,” Brown shared. “Of course, I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it so important to start a family, for me personally. It’s a huge thing. Jake was like, ‘We cannot do that until we get married.’ So that was his thing, and my thing was that I really want a family, I really want a big family.”

A milestone as her breakout role ends

As Brown steps into this new role as a mom, she’s also preparing to say goodbye to the one that made her a household name. Stranger Things will return this fall for its fifth and final season, with the series finale set for New Year’s Eve, just weeks before her 22nd birthday.

Reflecting on the end of an era, she told her castmates in a farewell speech: “Not me, I am nowhere near ready to leave you guys. I love each and every one of you and I’ll forever carry the memories and bonds we’ve created together as a family.”
