No matter how much you plan something, sometimes life interrupts and gives you a healthy dose of the unexpected.

For CNN news anchor Kasie Hunt, who recently gave birth on the bathroom floor, that’s exactly what happened. Hunt had a birth plan in place way ahead of time. The chief national affairs analyst reportedly had a planned c-section, according to Today.

But, of course, the baby was on her own schedule. Hunt posted about the unbelievable series of events on Instagram.

According to the Instagram post, baby Grey was delivered by her father on the bathroom floor after only 13 minutes of labor. Yes, 13 minutes. She certainly gives new meaning to the term bathroom quickie!

Kasie Hunt and her husband, Matthew Mario Rivera, are already parents to 3-year-old son Mars Hunt. The newest addition to the family, Grey Hunt Rivera, was born on March 1.

The cesarean section was scheduled just 24 hours later on March 2.

“My husband @mattmrivera & I are thrilled to introduce our daughter, Grey Hunt Rivera—though really, she introduced herself,” Hunt wrote in the post’s caption. “Before we even had time to dial 911, and 24 hours before she was scheduled to arrive via C-section.”

The first photo shows Hunt hugging her newborn to her chest while sitting on the floor of the bathroom doorway. She’s looking up at the camera while a DC Fired & EMS personnel is standing near her. The second photo shows the happy, 2nd-time parents with their daughter and the last one pictures an adorable older brother staring at his new baby sister.

“We are so thankful for the @dcfireandems team who talked us through the incredibly intense moments before she took her first breaths and who arrived within minutes to bring mom and baby safely to the hospital,” Hunt continued in her post. “Big brother Mars could not be more proud, and we couldn’t be more excited for life as a family of four.”

Hunt described the unexpected event as Grey showing off her “independent streak,” in an interview with People.

“We’re so excited about life as a family of four—and reminded it’s going to be that much more unpredictable!”

The CNN anchor made headlines years ago during her first pregnancy when a Twitter user commented that she looked “fat.”

Hunt responded with, “I’m 8 months pregnant?” At the time, viewers and other journalists rushed to her defense with comments of support.

Not long after Hunt gave birth to their little boy, Mars, whose gender was kept a secret until he made his big entrance.

“Mars must already have big things planned since he started life at 9 1/2 pounds,” she said. “We love him so much and can’t wait to see what joy he brings to our family of three.”

Congratulations to the new family of four!
