Hundreds of popular household packaged foods are being recalled due to a possible Listeria contamination, according to CNN.

The products belong to different brand names but they’re all produced under the same parent company: Fresh Ideation Food Group LLC. The foods affected in this recall were sold from January 24, 2023, through January 30, 2023. They have been distributed in Washington D.C. and amongst these 9 states:

  1. Connecticut
  2. Maryland
  3. Massachusetts
  4. New Jersey
  5. New York
  6. North Carolina
  7. Pennsylvania
  8. South Carolina
  9. Virginia

The foods in the recall include sandwiches, parfaits, wraps and yogurt. You can find the full list of recalled products here.

The FDA reports, “All recalled products have a Fresh Creative Cuisine label and/or identifier on the bottom of the label with the Fresh Creative Cuisine name and a fresh through or sell through date ranging from January 31, 2023 through February 6, 2023.”

The FDA recall was initiated because environmental samples tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. This bacterial organism can cause serious, or even fatal, infections known as listeriosis in young children, elderly people, those with weakened immune systems, as well as pregnant women.

Because pregnancy is a pseudo-immunocompromised state, the normal defenses against infection and illness, especially food-borne illness, are down. Pregnant women are 10 times more likely to get listeriosis than non-pregnant women. Listeriosis may have severe consequences in pregnancy and can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth or preterm labor.

Short term symptoms of listeriosis can include: high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. If you feel you have experienced these symptoms, reach out to your medical provider.
