Our kids can see everything very differently from us. A walk around the block can seem mundane to an adult, while it’s the biggest adventure for a child. But when they’re frustrated or overwhelmed, it can be hard for them to just “use their words.” Walk them through it, mama. Take a step back and use a few positive phrases that guide them in sharing their feelings instead of growling or squealing. “How can I help…” goes a lot further than “What is wrong?”

PS: Your partner might parent differently from you, and that’s okay. Plus, how to build your village from the ground up, mama.
