Every now and then we see a baby brand that makes us say, “We wish that came in OUR size!" PaigeLauren baby is one of those brands. No, we don't necessarily want to climb into a onesie or romper. But there's something about PaigeLauren that's so soft and timeless--simple, classic and cozy looks that you want to wear--ahem, we mean you want baby to wear--every day.
So it's no surprise that this LA designer's pregnancy style is much like her baby brand: casual, simple, elegant. “Just give me something soft and timeless and I'll wear it with some cute shoes and a purse and call it a day," she says.
We recently spoke to Paige as she awaited Baby Boy (he arrived earlier this month!), and she filled us in on how she's dealing with her changing body, the best LA pregnancy shopping spots, and what 5 essential pregnancy pieces she's lived in for 9 months plus.
How would you describe your pregnancy style?
I would describe it as full of excitement! As much as I'd like to say my style is very casual chic, inside I really just can't wait to meet the little one!
What are your favorite places to shop for pregnancy clothes in L.A.?
A woman can never really know how her body is going to react to a pregnancy. My body hasn't changed as much as I thought it would but except for my growing belly. I've been finding myself wearing rompers I found at Hardwear on Larchmont, Dresses from Gypsy on Robertson, maternity t-shirts from Gap on Beverly Drive and jeans from Pea in the Pod.
What's been your biggest surprise in learning to dress your pregnant body?
Well, I've had to ask my husband to put on my shoes every morning, starting about 3 months ago. My tummy is pretty big and getting in the way of simple things like that. I love being pregnant and love my new body.
What's been your favorite part about pregnancy dressing?
I do like to show off the bump. It's been pretty fun and quite an interesting conversation starter. People are rather engaging when your pregnant whether they want to know if it's a boy or girl, or have an infinite amount of unsolicited advice for a new Mom-to-be.
What's your personal take on maternity vs. non-maternity during pregnancy?
Like I said before, I've only had to get a few pieces of maternity clothes, I guess I am one of the "lucky ones." So the few key pieces like tee shirts, jeans and bras haven't been much of a burden to get just for these 9 months. Everything else I wear is non-maternity and fits great--especially all the dresses and rompers that are current fashion trends.
How is your pregnancy style different or similar to your non-pregnancy style?
It hasn't changed. I'm a casual gal with simple elegant taste. Just give me something soft and timeless and I'll wear it with some cute shoes and a purse and call it a day.
