We tried it: CBD from Green Roads

Over the last couple of years CBD, or Cannabidiol (a non-psychoactive compound found in Cannabis plants) has gone from being something many of us had never heard of to something that is talked about seemingly non-stop. Celebs like Kim Kardashian are all about it and regular, suburban moms say it helps them feel less anxious and get more sleep.

This stuff is trending hard, mama, and it won't get you "high". But with CBD popping up pretty much everywhere, it's hard to know which brand or product to pick. Some CBD products on the market don't actually have much CBD in them, which means you're not going to get the benefits.

That's why we're into Green Roads products right now. The brand that puts an emphasis on quality, and has a ton of different CBD options that #TeamMotherly members tested out.

CBD-infused coffee

If there's one thing #TeamMotherly loves, it's coffee, so we were stoked to see that Green Roads offers a CBD coffee. They take high-quality coffee beans and add CBD from USA grown hemp formulated by a licensed compounding pharmacist and a third-party lab. (Green Roads is super serious about making sure that we're getting top quality CBD).

One of our Motherly testers brewed up a batch of the CBD coffee and loved it.

"It's like energy + calm together!" she says, noting that she made the coffee on a weekday that's usually tough for her because it's a day when she's solo parenting multiple kids. After the CBD coffee, she found she had more energy than usual and actually enjoyed her morning more than usual. (We know weekday mornings can be a struggle for many mamas!.)

"I could see myself buying more," she explains.

CBD oil

This one's for the purists. If you want your CBD oil as uncomplicated and simple as possible, straight-up CBD oil is for you. Our #TeamMotherly tester gave this a go and found a dropper of this sublingual oil (meaning you put it under your tongue for at least 30 seconds) was an easy way to the perfect dose for her.

Let's talk about gummies

Traditional capsule-style supplements are not for everyone (raise your hand if you just can't do pills), so if you're the kind of mama who takes her calcium in a gummy, Green Roads has you covered with their CBD gummies.

[Disclaimer: This form factor can be tempting to little ones who don't understand the difference between mom's supplements and candy. If you have kids in your home, always ensure that gummies (like any supplement or medication) are stored out of reach and out of sight of children.]

These fruit bites and gummy bears have zero THC (you are not going to get "high" ) and 10 mg of CBD.

Our #TeamMotherly tester has this advice: Start low and go slow. Two gummies felt like too much for this mama, and she says just one gummy is a better place to start. You can always take a second dose later.

Bottom line: CBD is getting more and more popular and popping up everywhere, but we want to make sure that any supplement we're taking is a quality supplement. Green Roads CBD is the good stuff, according to lab tests, and our testers.

When it comes to getting a good night's sleep, there are many factors that, as a mama, are hard to control. Who's going to wet the bed at 3 am, how many times a small person is going to need a sip of water, or the volume of your partner's snoring are total wildcards.

One thing you can control? Tricking out your bed to make it as downright cozy as possible. (And in these times, is there anywhere you want to be than your bed like 75% of the time?)

I've always been a down comforter sort of girl, but after a week of testing the ridiculously plush and aptly named Snug Comforter from Sunday Citizen, a brand that's run by "curators of soft, seekers of chill" who "believe in comfort over everything," it's safe to say I've been converted.
