Home / Child / Child Shopping Guide These kids dishes don’t look like kids dishes And that's exactly why my toddler loves them. By Karell Roxas September 11, 2020 My 4.5-year-old is, let’s say, spirited in his opinions. He very clearly knows what he wants and doesn’t want (oh to have the confidence of a stubborn preschooler!). And what he doesn’t want right now is anything that looks too babyish. “That’s for babies,” he’ll say if I give him anything with primary colors or looks too miniature. He doesn’t want the baby fork and spoon, he wants what grown-ups use. He doesn’t want the baby plastic cups and plates, he wants the glass and ceramic ones. Well, you can see where this is going. I had to find something that would satisfy his “not a baby” opinions but still not shatter to pieces if he accidentally drops it on the floor. I had to find him something that’s made for kids but doesn’t feel made for kids. That’s why I was so happy to find Ekobo. They come in these beautiful muted colorways that feel uber-sophisticated but are sized perfectly for little big kids. They’re made with biodegradable bamboo fiber and food-grade melamine so they’re super sturdy and dishwasher safe. Best part? They look very similar to the “grown-up” dishes we already have, so my little guy is none the wiser. Here are my favorites: EKOBO bamboo kids plate set These come in a set of four and a variety of pop and muted hues everyone can agree on. $30 Buy Now EKOBO bamboo kids bowls We love these for inside and outside snacks and meals. $32 Buy Now EKOBO kids cups From picnics to the dinner table, bath time to the sandbox, we use these everywhere. $20 Buy Now EKOBO bento box Even at home, this makes lunchtime more fun. The top can be used as a plate and it’s great for keeping foods from touching. $22 Buy Now EKOBO rectangular bento box Lunch on the go? No problem. This one fits perfectly into our favorite lunch box . $23 Buy Now EKOBO cereal bowl set Cereal is just a suggestion. Soup, popcorn, or a heaping bowl of ice cream when things get tough will also work. $32 Buy Now EKOBO storage containers No need to worry about a school of goldfish crackers swimming at the bottom of your bag. These seal tight and the lid snaps to the bottom when in use to keep it from getting lost. $18 Buy Now We independently select and share the products we love—and may receive a commission if you choose to buy.
