Fall comes with busy schedules, refreshed routines and a renewed sense of energy. But it also comes with plenty of sick days. Viruses start making the rounds more frequently once the chilly weather appears, and no matter how much I know they’re coming, my kids’ sick days always seem to somehow catch me off-guard. That’s why, this year, I’m taking action: I’m preparing for those inevitable sick days in advance. I’m stocking up my medicine cabinet and supplement drawer now—so when those first few sniffles start, I’ll be ready.
Having the right products on hand can majorly reduce the stress of managing colds, flu or the latest childhood rash. I’m making sure I have a reliable children’s pain/fever reducer, cough and cold medicines and decongestants, as well as at-home tests on hand—the go-to items I know I’ll need when sickness strikes.
I’ll take inventory of my supplement drawer, too. A strong immune system is key for helping little bodies fight off viruses, so I’m making sure I have plenty of elderberry and other immune-supportive supplements at the ready. I’ll be encouraging my kids to take these regularly, even when they’re not sick, to help prevent illnesses in the first place.
Making sure my whole family is up-to-date on seasonal vaccines is also a necessary part of this prep. The PfizerForAll platform makes this easy—locating vaccine appointments in my area and taking the legwork out of booking.
By taking these proactive steps now (and having the PBS Kids app locked and loaded on our family’s tablet), I’ll have peace of mind knowing I’m fully prepared to care for my kids when the inevitable sick days come. Here’s exactly what I’m stocking up on.
