Name: Katherine Cain Neighborhood: Murray Hill Occupation: PR Manager, Old Navy Baby’s Sex: Girl How would you describe your pregnant style? Classic, comfortable and feminine, which is how I would also describe my pre-pregnancy style. Comfort is especially key during pregnancy, as is finding pieces that accentuate my baby bump, which I have found to be the most flattering style for me. Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy? My biggest challenge has been restraining myself from buying a whole new maternity wardrobe! As my pregnancy progresses, I have relied more on maternity-specific products like jeans and tees, and I will just size up in things like dresses and button-downs (I have also loved buying men's sweaters, or borrowing my husbands). Being pregnant in the fall and winter is wonderful, but since it's cold there is a lot of clothing to wear, which means a lot of clothing to buy! So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy? The overwhelming kindness of friends, colleagues and strangers (in Manhattan no less) has been so wonderful. Maybe it's because I'm pregnant and more emotional, but I find it so touching how considerate and thoughtful everyone is when you're pregnant. I have also loved just about every element of being pregnant, which has been a really pleasant surprise. You hear so many horror stories of nausea for nine months, or constant exhaustion, and since it can be such a different experience for everyone, I feel so lucky to have enjoyed the journey so far. What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump? Ingrid & Isabel leggings, AG maternity jeans (the BEST by far), and Gap and Old Navy tees. I also loved my BellaBand for the first several months of pregnancy. What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby? Since I'm due in February, I can't wait to snuggle up in our apartment with my baby girl and my husband, with tons of cozy blankets and some wonderful music playing, just treasuring our new arrival. I'm downloading plenty of James Taylor, Paul Simon and Fleetwood Mac to prepare. And in typical NYC fashion, I can't wait to introduce her to the sweet women who work at our neighborhood bodega--they are almost as excited for her arrival as we are!
