An ode to my first born

They say your love will multiply,
And while I know that’s true
I simply cannot imagine
Loving anything the way that I love you

You were my first born baby
And from the very start
You taught me the act of motherhood
Is best done from the heart

From the moment that I saw you
I knew that we would be 
Our very own special duo
A true, dynamic team

We’ve grown a lot together
You taught me how it’s done
And while I strive to do better
You show me I’m enough with one small, simple hug

All the lessons you have taught me
The things that I have learned
Will certainly prove of value
As together we make this turn

Each day with you I’ve cherished
And I want you to know
That though the days ahead may change
My love will only grow

For you were always first, sweet boy
My very own special start
