In case you’re not up to date on the hygiene habits of Hollywood parents (though, to be fair, if you’ve been on the internet at all in the past week you know it’s impossible not to be), here’s a quick recap. Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis went on Dax Shepard’s podcast and talked about how often they bathe their kiddos—when they can “see the dirt”—and the internet kind of exploded over their kids-and-baths stance.

That admission led to other celebrity parents admitting that they also don’t bathe their kids every day, which led to even more internet discourse (including some very, very valid points about white privilege and hygiene).

Cut to last night, when Ashton Kutcher decided to put the matter to bed once and for all as he publicly documented Kunis making sure their kids were bathing. Honestly, it’s hilarious.

As far as celebrity responses to mild PR crises go, this is a pretty decent one. It’s actually very funny, and it shows that Kutcher and Kunis are self-aware enough to be good sports. When you can poke fun at yourself, everyone wins!

“It’s water! It’s water,” Kunis laughs as she explains that their kids are submerged amid water and soap.

“You’re putting water on the children? Are you trying to melt them?” Kutcher faux gasps. “Are you trying to injure them with water? This is ridiculous! What’s going on?”

“We’re bathing our children,” Kunis tries to explain while simultaneously cracking up from Kutcher’s faux outrage. He claims it’s “the fourth time this week” they’ve been bathed.

“It’s too much,” she said, still laughing.

“Their body oils are going to be destroyed!” Kutcher yelled. “What are you trying to do?”

Though this is a solid response to their bath-time overshare last week, it’s important to understand why not everyone finds it funny when wealthy white people openly discuss not bathing regularly.

MSNBC host Joy Ann Reid pointed out some sobering facts on Twitter: “Segregation included barring Black folks from swimming in pools or at public beaches on the premise that we were dirty by definition. … So when did it become rich kitsch to brag about family filthiness?”

Many other celebrities like The Rock and Jodie Turner-Smith also shared that their families bathe regularly, just in case anyone was wondering.

Kudos to the Kunis-Kutcher family for indulging in some light self-mockery and making us all laugh!
