Sometimes when an actress is absent from the red carpet they’re simply sick. Other times, it might be morning sickness that’s keeping them out of the spotlight.

Rachel McAdams skipped the premiere of her new movie Game Night this week, and while the star has not yet confirmed the news herself, E! Is reporting that the Mean Girls alum is going to be a mom.

The Oscar nominee is pretty private when it comes to her personal life, so don’t expect to see bump updates on Instagram any time soon.

The Notebook actress has been romantically linked to screenwriter Jamie Linden since 2016, but the pair have kept their romance to themselves for the most part, never making a red carpet appearance together.

Back when she was single, McAdams told Marie Claire she’d like to have kids at “some point,” so we’re happy for her if it’s true.

For McAdams, the role of mom isn’t totally foreign. She’s taken on the role of mama in several movies, and seems to be a natural at playing a parent. Of course, momming in real life is totally different than acting (some days I wish I had a trailer to retreat to), but McAdams has a great example to follow as she steps into her new role.

The 39-year-old has spoken at length about how much her own mother has inspired and supported her throughout her career and personal life. “She’s a nurse and very nurturing and gentle. She lets me be who I am. Hopefully I can take on those qualities and be as great as her,” she told People back in 2009.

“Having a few [kids] would be great,” McAdams said at the time.

Time will tell if McAdams and Linden get to a few or stop at one, but whatever the number, we’re happy for McAdams and we’re sure she’ll be a really cool mom.
