Tom Brady, former quarterback for the New England Patriots and current quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers posted a video sharing some big news with his fans.

“I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring for good,” he said, getting emotional. “I know the process was a pretty big deal last time so when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first. I won’t be long-winded. You only get one long emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year.”

It’s his first real, emotional statement since his divorce announcement. In the caption to the video, he gives a nod to his ex-wife and their children.

‘I love my family. I love my teammates. I love my friends. I love my coaches. I love football. I love you allI am truly grateful on this day. Thank you 🙏🏻❤️’

Last fall, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have officially filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage. Both Tom and Gisele shared statements on their social media accounts in October confirming the news.

“In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve,” Brady wrote on Instagram.

Gisele shared similar sentiments in an emotional statement of her own:

“With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce,” Gisele wrote. “My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve. The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always. I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time. Thank you.”

Both Brady and Bündchen filed for divorce in Florida, where they both currently reside. TMZ reports that they’ve been working on a property settlement and custody agreement in private for weeks, though the exact terms of the divorce have remained private. The couple did agree to share joint custody of their children, son Benjamin, 12, and daughter Vivian, 9. Brady also has a son, Jack, 15, with his ex Bridget Moynahan.
