When it comes to sports movies, "A League of Their Own" is, well, in a league of its own. It's unparalleled, especially in the realm of women's sports entertainment.

While nothing could ever top Penny Marshall's 1992 blockbuster, the movie is getting a reboot via Amazon Prime. And, even better, the official trailer just dropped today! The Rockford Peaches are back, baby!

“'A League of Their Own' evokes the joyful spirit of Penny Marshall’s beloved classic, while widening the lens to tell the story of an entire generation of women who dreamed of playing professional baseball, both in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and outside of it,” reads a press release for the series. “The show follows Carson (Abbi Jacobson) and Max (Chanté Adams) and a new ensemble of sharp and hilarious characters as they carve their paths toward the field, along the way finding their teams and themselves.”

The trailer has a few nods to the OG film: the Rockford Peaches themselves, a Black woman catching a baseball with one singular bare hand, the outcry over having to play ball in skirts, etc. But it also looks like we're going to get a deep-dive on many other characters and even other teams (the Racine Belles, perhaps?). There's lots of nostalgia, drama, comedy, and even a little romance, per the trailer.

Though the original did shine a light on the racial discrimination that prevented Black women from entering the All American Girls Baseball League, the series will make that struggle part of the main plot. The series reboot promises to be a “fresh reimagining” of the story, delving deeper into the social issues of that time period. one that delves deeper into the social issues of the day.

Shoutout to Ron Swanson (sorry, Nick Offerman) for playing coach Dove, stepping into Tom Hanks' Lovable Jerk shoes through a new character. “You want the game to be more exciting, shorten the skirts,” Offerman's character says at one point.

"A League of Their Own‘s" cast includes D’Arcy Carden as Greta, Gbemisola Ikumelo as Clance, Roberta Colindrez as Lupe, Saidah Arrika Ekulona as Toni, Kate Berlant as Shirley, Kendall Johnson as Gary, Kelly McCormack as Jess, Alex Désert as Edgar, Priscilla Delgado as Esti, Aaron Jennings as Guy, Molly Ephraim as Maybelle, Melanie Field as Jo and Dale Dickey as Beverly.

All eight episodes of the new series drop Friday, Aug. 12.
