The mom, who posts under the TikTok account @mommacusses, created the video with a bunch of back-to-back clips showing what she actually says, and then what she thinks her kids hear her say based on how they react.

The first one is deeply relatable: Getting ready to leave the house.

“Hey sweetie, it’s almost time to go, go put your shoes on,” is what she says. But what her kids hear? “Hey honey, it’s almost time to go, forget how to have feet. Yep — just lay there like a dying fish.”

It’s so true it hurts a little.

The next one is also super relatable: bedtime battles.

“Hey, five minutes until bedtime, OK?” she says. But her kids hear, “Hey, five minutes until I come back in here and rip off your toenails with rusty pliers.”

Yep, makes sense.

“Hey kids, come inside, it’s dinner time!” she says. Her kids hear, “Hey kids, come inside, I’ve slaughtered our beloved family pet and need your help processing her corpse!”

And when she says, “What’s for dinner? We’re having pork chops and homemade macaroni and cheese,” her kids actually hear, “What’s for dinner? I found a dead armadillo on the side of the road and just threw some old foliage in a bowl, like a salad!”
