When I was pregnant, it took me a while to put together my hospital bag. I was so busy with work and grad school that gathering the items I needed for labor took a backseat. In other words: I was a disorganized mess.

So I can’t help but be a little bit jealous of Khloé Kardashian’s (well documented) organizational skills. The mom-to-be, whose expecting her first child with boyfriend Tristan Thompson, recently took to her Khloe With a K app to let fans know that she’s all packed and ready to go for when her baby girl arrives.

The 33-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star writes in a new app post, “When it comes time to go to the hospital to deliver my baby girl, I’ll be ready. Of course, I’m already packed up and have been for a while, LOL. I knew exactly what I wanted to put in my hospital bag—lots of comfy things for me and for her!”

So what’s in Strong Looks Better Naked author’s hospital bag? According to her blog, Kardashian included:

  • her computer
  • chargers
  • toiletry bag
  • comfy socks
  • front-button pajamas
  • nursing bras
  • a going home outfit
  • a pillow
  • blanket
  • underwear
  • cameras

For the baby, the mom-to-be gathered:

  • two baby outfits
  • matching hats
  • receiving blankets
  • socks
  • swaddles

The bag is ready to go, but it seems the same can’t be said for baby. Kardashian admits she’s “bored” and ready to give birth, keeping herself busy bouncing on a birthing ball while Snapchatting.

Want to pack the perfect hospital bag like Kardashian? Here are just a few tips to get you started.

1. Decide what you want and need in your bag.

There are a few essentials that every hospital bag should have: Comfortable clothes to wear during your hospital stay, an outfit to travel home in, your baby’s coming home outfit, a toiletry set, insurance information, underwear, a camera and a well-fitting nursing bra if you’re planning to breastfeed or ready-to-serve infant formula if you don’t.

But there are some other items that you could—and probably should—include, such as an extra-long phone charger, a receiving blanket, flip flops and maybe a nice robe. Keep a rolling list of items you may want or need for your bag.

2. Now make two checklists

Separate the items you want to include in your bag into two checklists: One for mama and one for baby. Like you, your soon-to-be bundle of joy is going to need a few things of their own, such as little booties and a maybe a pacifier. Having two organized lists will let you see, on paper, what’s either missing from your bag or what may not be necessary to bring for either one of you.

It’s also helpful to check your lists against hospital bag checklists online to make sure you’ve identified all the essentials and any extras that may be good to have. Check to see if your hospital has a specific list.

3. Pack as soon as possible

Now that you have your lists, get packing! If you wait until the last minute, you may forget to put in crucial items, like your baby’s first-day home outfit. Begin to collect all the stuff you need and start putting them in your tote.

Your hospital bag is something you could stash away with all the other items you need to bring with you when you go into labor, such as your approved infant car seat. Most doctors recommend packing your bag around 35 weeks, but you could always do so earlier if you want.

4. Double-check your bag

A couple of days before your due date, go over what’s in your bag. Refer back to the two checklists, if you still have them, to make sure you didn’t forget to include an item or that nothing was removed. When you review what’s in your hospital bag, you’re lowering your chances of being in a bind when the big day comes (that extra-long phone charger might really come in handy).

If you’ve been putting off packing, or just unsure of what to include in your hospital bag, you’re not alone. Kardashian is known for her organization skills, but plenty of us aren’t. Packing the perfect hospital bag might be a bit of an organizational challenge, but it can totally take some stress out of the final days of pregnancy.
