We know that mothers are leaders. It’s time we saw more political leaders who are mothers . Let’s be honest: we’re problem-solvers , effective communicators and negotiators, and we know all about time and crisis management. More than that, we care deeply for our families and communities. It just makes sense to have more mothers actively involved in making decisions for their communities . Our 2021 State of Motherhood survey found that 85% of mothers say they would vote for a political candidate who supported childcare legislation that did more to actively support mothers, regardless of that candidate’s party affiliation. While mothers have strong opinions on issues that affect their children and families—and they’re willing to vote across party lines to effect legislative change—our survey revealed that only 19% of mothers report being actively engaged in advocacy action in the support of mothers. Why do so relatively few of us identify as advocates for mothers? It might be that because we’re so used to putting the needs of others first, we forget to advocate for ourselves. It might also be that many of us just aren’t sure how to get involved.

We can help there.

We’ve rounded up ten groups dedicated to helping mothers get involved in the political process. The organizations below support all political leanings—so read on to find the right fit for you.
