It will be avaialable on-demand April 10th!
The entire world is struggling with the effect of the coronavirus outbreak, and the entertainment industry is no exception.
Some film release dates are being delayed but the new Trolls World Tour movie will instead be released to home video on the day of its theatrical release. This change will allow families to watch it at home instead of trekking outside during the huge shut-in.
Universal Pictures made the tough decision to make its movies available for home entertainment the same day as the films' global theatrical release dates. Along with Trolls, the company will have other movies, including The Invisible Man and The Hunt available at home on the same day.
Trolls doesn't come out until April 10 but some of the grown-up movies will be available March 20. Yes, that's this Friday, mama. It's time to get excited
"Universal Pictures has a broad and diverse range of movies with 2020 being no exception. Rather than delaying these films or releasing them into a challenged distribution landscape, we wanted to provide an option for people to view these titles in the home that is both accessible and affordable," NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell said in a statement. "We hope and believe that people will still go to the movies in theaters where available, but we understand that for people in different areas of the world that is increasingly becoming less possible."
The Trolls film will be available to rent for 48 hours for $19.99.
