How would you describe your pregnant style?

My pregnant style centers around comfort, simplicity and affordability. Luckily, I work in an environment that allows me to dress casually, so I didn’t have to buy two new sets of clothes. Knowing how quickly this process would go, I made a conscious effort not to get caught up in buying designer items that I may never be able to wear again (or if I am able, may be out of style). Maternity jeans , leggings, form-fitting tees and flowy tops are my go-tos.

Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during pregnancy?

I wasn’t too fond of the in-between stage, which for me was around 15 to 22 weeks. Everything fit me like I had just eaten five burritos (even maternity clothes!), not like I was pregnant. Once my pregnancy was obvious, I became a lot more comfortable with my body, and even started preferring tighter-fitting items.

So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?

In my first trimester, I was very surprised by the extreme fatigue. I was borderline narcoleptic after 8 PM! Since then, I’ve been most surprised by the range of new emotions that pregnancy can trigger. I find myself constantly in awe of the pregnancy process and wanting to learn everything I can, and sometimes get emotional just reading about milestones like hiccups and lung-development. I’ve also experienced a heightened adoration for my husband and can’t wait to see how he is as a dad.

What are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?

First and foremost, I want Baby P to be here and healthy, and for us to be sharing the same air. After that, I am really looking forward to exploring the kid-friendly side of New York City, including spending more time in places that I already love, like Central Park, Hudson River Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park. Thanks to my amazing bosses, Baby P and I will have six months to roam around the Big Apple together before I head back to work.

What’s your 5 registry essentials?

1. Aden & Anais Bandana Bibs – I have no idea if these things will be as effective as traditional bibs, but they are too cute not to have!

2. BabyBjorn We Baby Carrier – New York City is not always stroller-friendly, so I think we will get a lot of use out of this item.

3. Prince Lionheart Wipe Warmer – I’ve heard some babies hate to be changed in general, and that a wipe warmer can help make this process better. We shall see…

4. Graco Modes Click Connect Travel System – As a soon-to-be Manhattan mom, I certainly felt the pressure to test all of the fancier travel systems first, from UppaBaby, Baby Jogger, BOB, Buggaboo, and even some of the European models. Yet no matter how many different brands I tried, I kept coming back to the Graco Modes Click Connect. It’s light, easy to open, even easier to collapse, has a big storage basket and is very affordable.

5. Spicy Bloody Mary – Obviously this isn’t on my official registry, but I really can’t wait to have one!
