Serena Williams and fiance Alexis Ohanian have been on quite the exciting ride this year—and just shared a peek into it with a heartwarming home video capturing the nine months leading up to the birth of new daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. As it is for so many parents, the journey seemed to be filled with highs and lows, including “a lot of complications” that arose during the baby’s birth.

“So we’re leaving the hospital after six, seven days,” Williams says in the clip posted on her website and, naturally, on Reddit. (Which was co-founded by the proud new papa.)

Born on September 1, little “Olympia” weighed in at 6 pounds, 14 ounces. “Welcome, Olympia, we’re so happy to meet you. We made you a video of our adventure together so far,” Ohanian wrote in an Instagram post.

Her birth annoucement video begins with a montage of Williams’ pregnancy made from quick videos captured on the couple’s phones. (We knew Snapchat played a big role in Williams’ journey!) Swollen feet, sweet moments between her parents and some clips of Williams and Ohanian planning the nursery made the cut.

Throughout the video, the expectant parents can both be heard talking to baby Olympia while Williams’ baby bump gets progressively bigger. The 2-minute video ends with the big photo reveal we’ve been waiting for…

“It’s been a long time, but we had a lot of complications,” Williams says as the camera aims at her sweet baby’s little feet. “But look who we got—we got a baby girl, Junior!”

During her pregnancy, Williams was very open about her willingness to accept intervention when it came time for delivery. As she told Vogue, “The one thing I really want is an epidural, which I know a lot of people are against, but I’ve had surgeries galore, and I don’t need to experience any more pain if I can avoid it.”

Although it’s unclear whether the hospital stay was for the health of mama or baby, it’s clear the parents are thrilled to have their baby girl home now. And we’re thrilled to get a first look at this adorable family of three!
