Carly Rae Jepsen has always written about love in all its forms: the crush, the heartbreak, the holding on. Now, she’s entering a new kind of love story: expecting her first baby with husband Cole M.G.N.
The Call Me Maybe singer, 39, announced the news on Instagram with a simple caption, “Oh hi baby ❤️,” alongside a series of black-and-white photos showing her growing bump.
The pregnancy news comes only weeks after Jepsen and Cole’s wedding at New York City’s storied Chelsea Hotel, a place rich with creative history and personal meaning for the couple. “We knew we wanted a location that meant something to us, and the Chelsea Hotel had become a home away from home every time we were in New York. As artists, its iconic history and lore made it that much more appealing,” she told Vogue.

The two met during a songwriting session in 2021, got engaged in Italy in 2024, and tied the knot this fall. Even then, Jepsen hinted that their family plans were already in motion.
“We knew we were trying to get pregnant, so I also wanted an alternative dress that was much more flowy that I could sub in for the ceremony or just change into for dancing,” she told Vogue.
It’s the kind of practical detail that makes Jepsen relatable. Yes, she’s a Grammy-nominated pop star. But she’s also someone who planned for comfort on her wedding day because she knew what might be coming next.
It’s a full-circle moment for the pop star who once joked about her “baby urges” in a 2015 PopCrush interview, admitting, “Anytime there’s a baby at a meet and greet, I’m like, ‘Can I hold the baby? Is that gonna be weird if I… could I keep the baby?’”
Nearly a decade later, those lighthearted words have come full circle. Fans flooded her post with excitement, coining the nickname “Momly Rae Jepsen” and cheering her on from every corner of the internet.
Jepsen has built a career on songs that make people feel seen. Her next chapter might just do the same.
