J. Law is a new mom! Jennifer Lawrence gave birth to her first child with Cooke Maroney earlier this year in LA.

There was speculation that Lawrence had given birth back in February, neither she nor Maroney confirmed the news. However, PEOPLE officially reported the news late last week after Jennifer Lawrence was seen about town pushing a newborn in a stroller.

The actress, who confirmed her pregnancy in Sept. 2021 and then showed off her baby bump at a march in October, has already been vocal about protecting her baby’s privacy.

Last fall, Lawrence told Vanity Fair that because she’s in the public eye, she knows she chose that life but her child didn’t.

“If I was at a dinner party, and somebody was like, ‘Oh, my God, you’re expecting a baby,’ I wouldn’t be like, ‘God, I can’t talk about that. Get away from me, you psycho!” she explained. “But every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can.”

Earlier this month, J-Law’s pal Amy Schumer spoke about the newborn during a lie detector test with Vanity Fair. Asked if she thinks motherhood has changed Lawrence for the better, the comedian said she’s “only texted with [Lawrence] but I bet it has.”

Schumer also said she has yet to meet the baby and doesn’t know his or her name. “She’s smart enough not to tell me,” Schumer joked.

Congrats to the new parents!
