Easter is nearly here, mama. If your family celebrates the holiday, you might have already pulled out the baskets from storage or colored eggs with your kiddos. You might also have questions about how to celebrate—safely—with your loved ones during the pandemic.

While travel is increasing across the country, so is the number of COVID-19 cases. They’re up almost 12% across America. Hospitalizations are up, too.

The CDC has issued new guidelines for celebrating Easter amid the pandemic. For starters, the organization is recommending that families postpone traveling this holiday weekend. They also recommend against gathering in large groups or with people not in your household.

The safest way to celebrate the holiday is by gathering virtually, says the CDC. The group recommends:

  • Attending religious services virtually
  • Hosting egg hunts outdoors—with mask-wearing and social distancing
  • Enjoying holiday meals with people in your household

If you plan to celebrate with others, the CDC wants you to remember that outdoors is safer than indoors.

If you’re fully vaccinated, then the CDC says it’s safe for you to gather indoors unmasked with other fully vaccinated people. They recommend social distancing and mask-wearing with people who haven’t yet received the COVID-19 vaccine.

We know it’s been a long year. We understand wanting to gather with loved ones and hold them close, especially with the news that about 2.5 million Americans are getting vaccinated each day. We want to celebrate!

We get it, mama.

Just make sure that you’re doing everything you can to keep your family safe.
