The Kardashian family is growing! Khloé Kardashian is expecting her second child with ex Tristan Thompson via surrogate, her rep confirmed to People. Khloé is already mom to True, 4. “We can confirm True will have a sibling who was conceived in November,” her rep said. The timing is important, as it was revealed in December that Thompson was having another child with someone else, Maralee Nichols, which he confirmed in January, while still with Khloé.

Khloé talked about wanting another baby last June, but admitted to having trouble with surrogacy. Several months later, it’s clear that Kardashian and Thompson were successful, with their rep affirming that “Khloé is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing.”

While the two exes are no longer a couple, Kardashian expressed how important co-parenting True was to her in a podcast interview in May 2019. Kardashian’s rep did not comment on her current relationship with Thompson, but a source tells People that they “have not spoken since December outside of co-parenting matters.”

This will be the 12th Kardashian-Jenner grandkid—the future Kardashian joins the brood of Kim’s kids Psalm, Saint, North, and Chicago, Kourtney’s children Mason, Penelope, and Reign, Rob’s daughter Dream, and Kylie’s two little ones Stormi and her son, who was born in February and whose name has not yet been revealed.

Khloé isn’t the only one in the family committed to growing her family; on an April episode of “The Kardashians”, Kourtney revealed that she and Travis, married in May, were trying for a baby together via IVF but having a difficult time conceiving.

Khloé joins sister Kim in using surrogacy, who has used the method to have her two younger children, Chicago and Psalm. We even witnessed Kim giving younger sister Khloe advice about surrogacy, telling her in March 2021 on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” what a positive experience it can be: “You know what giving birth feel like. I always say if you can do it, it’s such an amazing experience, but you’ll see that the love you’ll have for your kids is exactly the same. There’s no difference except there was someone else that was the carrier.” On the other side of it, Kim has also written and talked about how difficult it can also be.

While Khloé has not clarified whether she and Thompson used gestational surrogacy or traditional surrogacy, Kim opted for the former when having her two younger kids. Gestational surrogacy—in which both the egg and sperm come from the donor couple, is becoming more common than traditional surrogacy, where the surrogate mother’s egg is used. About 750 babies are born via gestational surrogacy in the US every year.
