A bittersweet goodbye: Beloved nursing bra brand Bravado Designs is closing after 33 years

Bravado wasn't just another intimates brand. It was the brand.
We independently select and share the products we love—and may receive a commission if you choose to buy.
I’m not going to lie—when I saw Bravado’s closure announcement pop up in my feed last week, I literally said “noooo!” out loud to my phone. Like, audibly. Because if you’ve ever been pregnant or nursing (or honestly, just needed a really good wireless bra), you know that Bravado wasn’t just another intimates brand. It was the brand.
For 33 years, Bravado Designs has been the MVP of maternity, nursing and pumping bras, creating pieces that actually understood what our bodies needed. Their Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra became legendary among moms—and for good reason. We’re talking about a bra so comfortable and well-made that you’d genuinely forget you were wearing it, yet supportive enough to handle whatever your changing body threw at it. I’m talking about bras that lasted through multiple kids, growth spurts, and yes, even survived that one time you accidentally threw it in with the towels on hot.
Some of our Bravado Designs faves
Founded in 1992, this Canadian company built their reputation on thoughtfully designed intimate apparel that prioritized comfort without sacrificing style. (At this point, what don’t we owe Canada? Bravado, ketchup chips, Pamela Anderson—they really said “here, have all the good stuff.”) Bravado understood that good maternity and nursing bras could be genuine confidence boosters for women navigating some of the most physically demanding phases of their lives. From their innovative clip-down nursing mechanism to their size-inclusive approach, they consistently delivered on their promise of support—literally and figuratively.
The brand’s recent announcement cited an inability to weather the current business climate, despite having loyal customers, dedicated employees, and strong partnerships (they were even the official bra partner of the PWHL!).
The silver lining? Everything is currently 50% off while supplies last. If you’ve been on the fence about trying Bravado or need to stock up on your favorites, now’s the time. Because once these are gone, they’re really gone.
