I’ve never met a mama who didn’t need a little encouragement now and then. From the moment I knew I wanted to become a mother, a tiny voice was born in the back of my mind. You know that voice —it’s the one that whispers things like, “You don’t know what you’re doing.” Or, “Are you sure you can handle this? I don’t think you can handle this.”

I was lucky, though. I had a team of support around me that always found a way to drown out that voice with words and actions that reminded me that, actually, I could handle it. I did know what I was doing.

We all need that reminder sometimes, which is what I love so much about the Sontakey “Actually, I can” bracelet .

Designed by two mamas who personally benefitted from using affirmations during birth and while parenting their strong-willed toddlers, sisters-in-law Shveta and Rati Sontakey wanted to find a way to offer that empowerment to others.

Yes, it’s a stylish bangle that adds a little something to virtually any outfit. But the real magic of this bracelet is that any time I need a confidence boost—any time that tiny voice rears it’s doubting little head—all I have to do is take a quick glance at my wrist to remember how capable I am.

It has become my favorite gift for other new or soon-to-be moms, especially when they’re facing down a new challenge like labor (“actually, you can make it through this contraction”), a difficult baby milestone (“actually, you can handle this tantrum”), or starting a new venture (“actually, you can start that company with a baby”).

Along with its message, I also love how the bracelet is made. Hypoallergenic and lead-free, the pure stainless steel core is covered with a thick layer of 18K gold to ensure this bauble is as strong as the woman wearing it (and will keep its shine through years of challenges overcome).

I might not always have my support team with me, but with this bracelet, I know I can take on whatever comes my way.
