Our favorite all-natural beauty products for pregnant + new mamas

Pregnancy is a naturally beautiful thing in a woman’s life, and the same should be true of the skincare products we use. With the abundance of products claiming to be natural and non-toxic, we tested (and tested and tested) what’s out there and narrowed the field down to these nine favorites.

Get ready to pamper and primp that growing belly—and beyond.

1. Best budget-friendly option: Acure Organics

Free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, mineral oil, petrolatum, silicone, and just about anything that could threaten you or your baby, Acure is one of the most accessible brands on this list. (They even carry it at Target!).

Our favorites include their super lux night cream, brightening argan oil, and hair care line (especially the Body Beautiful products for postpartum hair loss). Their masks also make great self-care treatments both before and after your little one makes their arrival. (Trust us, you’ll have earned a little pampering!)

2. Best for all trimesters: Amareta Pregnancy Skincare

Wouldn’t it be great if a skincare line had products for every stage of pregnancy and new mom life? Wish = granted.

With cleansers, toners, and treatments designed for the cyclical hormonal swings of pregnancy, Amareta has something to treat every mama skincare woe that ails you. Plus, none of their products contain chemicals, synthetic preservatives, or harsh acne treatment ingredients.

To battle pregnancy acne, we love the Moon Light Brightening Gel Cleanser combined with Bright Side Balancing Toner and Pure Peace Clarifying Serum. Buh-bye, pimples.

3. Best for overhauling your makeup bag: Beautycounter

A relative newcomer to the beauty industry, Beautycounter is a mom-founded company that has been making waves by pushing the FDA to enact stricter rules about what is allowed into cosmetic products in the U.S. They hold themselves to a high standard, banning 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals from all of their products--without sacrificing on quality.

Our favorite products include the masks (great for unwinding post-bedtime), as well as their foundation and concealer. The Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation is perfect for light to medium coverage, and the Touchup Skin Concealer Pen is easy to apply and resists smudging and creasing no matter how your day goes (or how few hours of sleep you got last night).

4. Best for hormonal blemishes: Belli Beaut

We all know: sometimes pregnancy can do not-so-beautiful things to your skin. Since most anti-blemish treatments contain harsh chemicals not recommended for pregnancy, we love Belli Skincare as a safer alternative.

While all their products are free of parabens, gluten, artificial dyes and fragrances, their anti-blemish spot treatment and acne wash is great for pregnant or nursing mamas battling problem skin. (Plus, they feel super luxurious.)

5. Best for stretch marks: Erbaviva

No one deserves a little spa treatment more than pregnant mamas. But in case you don’t have time for an afternoon away, we recommend Erbaviva’s line of organic and chemical-free beauty treatments. Erbaviva skips harsh detergents, chemical fragrances, and other unhealthy additives in favor of natural ingredients like carrot seed, cocoa butter, and sea buckthorn for a truly luxurious and safe experiences.

For a little nightly belly pampering, we loved combining the stretch mark cream (non-greasy so you can dress right away!), stretch mark oil, and belly butter. All three products feature the same earthy, spa-like scent and pair beautifully for a deep hydration — take that, third-trimester itchiness.

6. Best for safe serums: Evan Healy

When searching for pregnancy-safe products, you can’t go wrong by starting with nature. Evan Healy’s line of skincare products are all organic and plant-based, leaving out synthetics or other toxic ingredients. They offer an array of cleansers, tonics, oils, and daily moisturizers divided into treatment lines, which include oily, acne-prone, sensitive, and mature skin care.

The only product to use caution with during pregnancy is the Blemish Treatment Serum, which contains a high concentration of essential oils. (The Whipped Shea Butter with Olive Leaf is recommended as a stretch cream preventer, though!) We also love the Sea Algae Serum as an anti-aging treatment.

7. Best for battling dull skin: Mad Hippie Advanced Skin Care

Ideal for aging or dull skin (um, hi, fourth trimester!), Mad Hippie formulates their products from vegan ingredients to tackle a host of skin issues, from sagging to sun damage. The Vitamin C serum is a great follow-up to regular cleansing to brighten sallow skin and get that “Sleepless night? What sleepless night?” glow.

Note to mamas: Mad Hippie does not recommend their Vitamin A serum for pregnant or nursing mamas, so skip that one until you’re done breastfeeding.

8. Best for natural color: Naked Truth Beauty

Naked Truth Beauty is a beauty company firmly rooted in safe products and ingredient education. They list descriptions of all of their product ingredients on their website so you can do research if you don’t recognize something. Plus, even their packaging is made from recycled ingredients and can be recycled or composted after use. (All the crunchy mamas rejoice!)

While they carry an assortment of bath and beauty items, our favorite was the Lip & Cheek stick. It’s easy to apply, and the color blends perfectly. They also have a fair variety of shades for different skin tones. Plus, who doesn’t love a product that pulls double duty — just like you, mama.

9. Best for lip color: W3LL PEOPLE

What happens when an elite makeup artist, a cosmetic dermatologist, and a tree-hugging entrepreneur team up to create a beauty line? Safe product magic.

That’s the story behind W3ll People, a company firmly rooted in non-toxic formulas and minimalist makeup looks. (Want to look like those girls who always look naturally put together? This is the line for you.) Every product contains premium natural ingredients and skips fillers, propylene glycol, petrochemicals, and petroleum by-products, meaning you’ll look as good as they make you feel.

We loved the lip gloss and lip butter for natural shades that work on any skin tone (plus a slight tingly that plumps your lips). For a little face color, the blush duo delivers a rosy hue paired with a subtle highlighter for an instant boost.
