How to find the hottest holiday toys: Fingerlings, Hatchimals and more

Looking for the toy your little one is going to jump for joy over this holiday season? We’ve got the scoop on five of the hottest toys that are sure to sell out fast this year and some tips on how to snag them.

According to the retail site RetailMeNot, Fingerlings monkeys, Hatchimals Surprise, Luvabella + Luvabeau interactive dolls, Teddy Ruxpin, and the Soggy Doggy Board Game will be tops on this year’s toy wish lists.

Forbes let us in on a few tricks on how to score these finds without overpaying or making yourself too crazy, according to Noelle Buhidar, managing editor of RetailMeNot’s The Real Deal:

✔ Call around
Get on the phone with your local retail stores and ask when they expect a new shipment of toys to come in before the holidays. Don’t be shy—check back regularly!

✔ Use online product trackers
Utilize Facebook and Twitter to follow retailers and retail sites; they’ll often post real-time alerts as to when a popular toy is currently in stock.

✔ Look out for Black Friday specials
Keep your eyes peeled for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, especially at the larger stores and sites like Target, Walmart, Amazon, and others.

✔ Consider a third-party vendor
Lots of third-party sellers are selling popular toys this season, but be aware that you’ll most likely pay more than the market price. And be careful—make sure the site’s legit before plopping down your credit card.

WowWee Fingerlings; $14.00 and up, Amazon

As of now these are only available via third-party sellers on Amazon, so be prepared to pay (way) over retail. Fingerlings are tiny monkeys that cling to your finger and have over 40 animations, including kissing sounds, opening and closing their eyes, burp, sleep, and more. Hatchimals Surprise; $52.99, Target

One of the hottest toys of 2016, Hatchimals are back! Your kiddo interacts with the egg to move along the hatching process, and eventually the babies pop out of the top of their shells.

Luvabella + Lovabeau dolls; $89.99 and up, Target

These uber-realistic dolls eat, sleep, talk, laugh, and respond to affection. Plus, the more you play with them, the more they learn.

Teddy Ruxpin; $142.98 and up, Amazon

He’s baaaack! Everyone’s favorite toy of the ‘80s just got a technology makeover. His eyes are animated, he sings, reads, and is Bluetooth-ready to connect to his very own app.

Soggy Doggy Board Game; $24.94 and up, Amazon

Race around the board but be careful—when soggy doggy shakes, you’re going to get all wet! Make it all the way around the bathtub to win.
