Summer-ready: Our favorite tees for effortless style

The drapey silhouette of one of my favorite Free People tops makes it ideal for throwing on over your workout clothes or bathing suit. It’s boxy and cropped so it looks great layered over long sleeve tees on chillier days as well. It comes in tons of other great colors too!

The Cotton Perfect Crewneck Tee is a year-round Madewell staple I’ve bought in multiple colors. Like hundreds of other reviewers state, it’s kind of the perfect T-shirt. The 100% cotton fabric is thick but breathable and not at all see-through with a fit that’s just right–not too big or too clingy. I also love the length which is long enough to tuck in, but not so long it gets bunched up. It’s also one that always seems to keep its size and shape no matter how many times you wash it!

Last year’s viral Old Navy shirt is still one of the most affordable scores around. The fabric is thick enough it doesn’t show your bra, and the length is ideal for tucking in. I’m also a big fan of the high, wide neckline. There’s a nice selection of colors to choose from but the bubble gum pink is my go-to.

The compressive but not too squeezy Flex Tee from Organic Basics is a top-pick if you’re looking for a tee that’s more fitted. It’s ideal for layering but I love the way it looks on its own, as well. The chic pairing of a fitted tee and belted, wide-leg jeans and clogs is my current spring uniform–and this one executes perfectly.

As someone who has held onto the same threadbare American Apparel tees for almost two decades, I’m a sucker for a tee that feels broken in. A current fave is this vintage feeling organic cotton style from Faherty. It’s like that band tee you’re too nostalgic to toss but without a crusty, faded logo. Win!

With over 3.8K 5-star ratings, a wide array of colors, and a price tag of less than 25 bucks, Gap’s Organic Cotton Vintage Crewneck T-Shirt is hard to beat. It’s got a more relaxed fit and the fabric is lightweight, perfect for outdoor adventures with kids in tow.

Listen. If you’re all “enough with the crop tops,” I hear you. It’s hard to find T-shirts of considerable length these days–or even just ones that don’t hit your belly button the second you put your arm up. Take your style in the opposite direction with this top-rated tunic style from Old Navy. The drapey fit and soft material makes it perfect for wearing with leggings or tossing on over your bathing suit.

Go shopping for onesies and end up shopping for yourself! Primary has easily landed a spot in my top three fave T-shirts ever with their Adult Classic Slub Crewneck Tee. I love the fit which is loose but not baggy and looks perfectly polished when tucked in. The cotton slub fabric is soft and comfortable with a texture that elevates it just enough to feel like you’re put together–not just wearing the shirt you wore to bed. Between the cut, the sleeve length and the collar, it’s just a perfectly feminine but laid-back tee I want to procure in every color. (And the white isn’t see through, bless.)  Honestly, it’s a 10/10, no notes!

Jungmaven makes some of my absolute favorite T-shirts. The fits are always fantastic and fabrics are natural and sustainable which means you’re not contributing to the waste of fast fashion either. This lightweight weight hemp style is one of their best-sellers and a personal top pick. It’s relaxed but not sloppy with just enough structure and even after dozens of washes, still looks fresh and not faded. Plus it comes in some really great hues!

J.Crew’s pointelle option adds a feminine touch to your T-shirt game. The dainty stitching and scalloped edges elevate an otherwise basic tee to a piece that’s sweet and special. It’s 100% cotton and a bit on the fitted side, so you may want to size up.
